Greetings Neighbors!
We hope that your holiday season is in full swing, bringing with it good times, good memory-making, and low stress! As 2025 comes to a close, your HPNA Board would like to share our end of year events and opportunities.

December 10: HPNA Community Meeting and Chili Cook-Off
We are looking forward to the annual HPNA Community Meeting coming up on Wednesday, December 10, from 6:30 – 9 p.m. at Two Rivers Cider Company (4311 Attawa Avenue). As always, we will get HPNA updates from your HPNA President and Treasurer; City updates from City Councilmember Caity Maple; and dues-paying HPNA members get the opportunity to vote on new HPNA bylaws and HPNA Board elections.
The Community Meeting also includes the 2nd annual HPNA Chili Cook-off! Participants can enter in one of two categories: Traditional and Vegetarian. Each competitor must prepare a crock pot of chili and bring a list of ingredients. Tasting bowls and spoons, as well as standard toppings will be provided by HPNA. Prizes will be awarded for each category, along with plenty of bragging rights! Two Rivers Cider will be selling their drinks to accompany the chili; big thanks to them for hosting this event!
All ages are welcome, so bring the whole family!

December 14: Southside Santa Parade
We are so happy to be on Councilmember Caity Maple’s Southside Santa Parade route this year, with Santa himself stopping by St. Robert School (2251 Irvin Way) between approximately 6:15 – 6:40 p.m. before the parade continues on its route. Your HPNA Board members will be there handing out hot chocolate and candy canes for the little ones, as well as photos with Santa as time allows. We hope to see you and your family out there; please join us!

HPNA Board Business
Throughout this year, your HPNA Board has been busy with discussing updating the HPNA Bylaws for the first time in many years. The proposed draft will be posted on the HPNA website (Hollywoodpark95822.org) by December 1 for anyone to review before the community vote. The bylaws effort involved reviews of many different neighborhood associations’ bylaws, as well as extensive discussion and additional Board meetings to ensure a thoughtful, exhaustive process. If you would like to discuss the process or the updates, please don’t hesitate to email the board at hpna95822@gmail.com and a Board member will reach out.
The Board has also worked hard to increase the number of individual dues-paying members, and has seen an increase of about 40% just this year, as well as welcoming new business members. WELCOME to all new and returning members! A big THANK YOU to the volunteers on the Fundraising Committee for their dedication to these efforts! If you are interested in engaging in this work, please reach out to the HPNA email (mentioned above); we would love to have you!
We also saw a wonderful number of volunteers, from our long-term volunteers to folks who are jumping in for the first time. We can’t thank all of you enough for all that you do to make this a great community. THANK YOU!

Finally, the HPNA can only do good things for our community with neighbor support, both through service and financial. We want to thank the incredible volunteers that have donated their talent and time to all of the events that we’ve enjoyed this year! If you’d like to help the HPNA bring good things to your neighbors, either once or on-going, simply reply to this email! If you’d like to become a dues-paying member of the HPNA ($20 for a 12-month membership), please take five minutes to do so by clicking this link or using the QR code below. Thank you!
