OLD BUSINESS:

Newsletter:

Molly commented on how nice the June newsletter looks. Chris reported that he is going to keep an excel sheet open with information about articles for future newsletters.

  1. Lynn will write this story about the large tree that was recently cut down on Hooke Way for the September issue.
  2. It was decided that we start writing stories about each board member, which will be called Getting to Know Your Board Members. Lynn will be the first one, and will be in the September issue.

The deadline for articles to get to Chris for the next issue will be August 6, 2022.

Community Meeting:

The next community meeting will be on June 15th, 2022. Molly created a to do list. She shared the document with us. Lynn arranged for Anthony Carrillo to speak about Land Park Soccer, Kathy contacted Teri Duarte to talk about CommuniTree. There was no response from SMUD or from Bethany Church. Molly arranged for Elle Huftill from the Flower Farm and Chloe McElyee from the Table Farm.

Lynn will purchase brownie bites, Madeleines and danish from Costco. Molly asked about having Raley’s donate oranges or apples.

Ice Cream Social:

There was discussion as to whether or not we want ice or dry ice or both. Also, we need to bring some bags for garbage.

Kathy and Debbie are going to buy the ice cream on Thursday, June 16th.

Kathy will get the A-Frames from Jannelle. There are five of them, so she asked if each of us could put one on our front lawns. Jazleen from Jay Schinerer’s office offered to print fliers for the Ice-Cream Social. Kathy asked if they could make the fliers larger than 8 1/2 x 11, like poster size. It was decided that each board member purchase poster boards from Dollar Store and make signs to put on the A Frames for the community meeting and the ice cream social.

Molly asked if we could all put up some fliers. We were reminded to use removable painters tape. Poster boards and A-frames can be picked up from Debbie’s house on Friday. Everyone from the board will help set up for the Ice-Cream Social.

NEW BUSINESS:

Centennial UMC National Night Out – August 2, 2022. They are looking for volunteers to help set up, work there, and take down. They are asking HPNA for two things: Volunteer to help set up and do we want to have a table there? It was decided that board members want to stay in our own neighborhoods. Lynn and Debbie indicated that they will stop by there for a few minutes.

Safe Streets Coalition: Since we don’t normally get involved in anything political, it was decided that we not respond at this time.

Chris wants us to still have the “Meet Your Neighbor” column. Debbie will look into doing a story about King’s Auto. Lynn reported that she dropped off the $50 BBQ & Burgers Gift Certificate to Victor Vasquez.

Molly reported that she contacted Erin McSlavkin about joining the board, but she recently joined another Board, so she does not have the time. Molly is working on trying to find other new board members.

As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:47PM.

Respectfully submitted, Lynn Humphries Secretary, HPNA
