HPNA Board Meeting – April 8, 2021

The meeting was called to order at 6:33PM

Board members present: Jeff Lidicker, Lynn Humphries, Kathleen Spitzer, Jannelle Rattigan, Ralph McDaniel, Vincent Xu
There was a quorum.

Minutes from March 11th meeting.

There were a couple typo errors that had been corrected.
Kathy made the motion to approve minutes as corrected. Ralph seconded The motion was approved unanimously

NEW BUSINESS

Jeff asked when we can start having board meeting in person. There was some discussion on that subject. Kathleen offered her front lawn. Jeff asked about having the meetings at the Centennial Church again. Jannelle will check into that. It was decided that we meet at Kathleen’s house in May, unless the church is available.

Advertising Renewals:

Jeff has a meeting with Scribner Bend Winery. They want to support our newsletter. Lynn reported that Land Bark Pet Supplies will pay for a business listing.
Jeff reported that Two Rivers has not decided anything yet.

OLD BUSINESS
Rocket Race:
Jannelle is waiting to hear back from the Singh family. She discussed whether or not Hollywood Park Elementary School would be able to host the run. Perhaps it could be held at Centennial Church. Jannelle also reported that she is looking into Insurance coverage. The question was asked if we have an Umbrella Policy. There was discussion regarding getting coverage is for two sponsored events per year, or just getting coverage for each individual event.

Election Committee:

Nothing more to report other than we are going to announce in September that there will be an election in December, and that new board members will take seats in January.

Ice Cream Social and Movie Night:

Jannelle is waiting to hear back from Vice Mayor Jay’s Schinerer’s office as to whether or not they are going to sponsor an event in September. Kathleen suggested that we have Ice-Cream Social on June 19th, with pre-packaged ice cream bars that

neighbors can drive to and pick up at Hollywood Park Elementary School. Then, perhaps have the movie night in September.
There was discussion regarding whether we could do something on July 4th.

HPNA Membership Gifts:

Discussion regarding whether or not to provide gifts when someone joins HPNA. Lynn will get prices for magnets 2 x 3 1/2, business card size. 250 to 500.

Liability Insurance Update:

Jannelle reported that she is still researching insurance options. She checked with another neighborhood association. She has a telephone appointment for Monday with an insurance agent.

Summer Newsletter:

Ralph reported that he still needs to send out an email blast for article contributions. Deadline for articles is May 7th. Jannelle made the suggestions that perhaps there be a story about the town of Freeport; for instance, where does Freeport Blvd. go; or perhaps about the wine industry, or the Sugar Mill.
Jeff suggested that we do an article about the history of Freeport Blvd. Ralph will do that story. Lynn will do a story about Libby Porter and her rocks and her rock painting. Kathy will do a story about Wally and Mason, the firetruck.
There was discussion regarding having a 4th of July house decorating contest.

Next Community Meeting:

There was discussion regarding whether we could have the next community meeting in person. Debbie suggested that we invite business members to talk at the next community meeting.

Financial Report:

Debbie reported that we currently have $7,565.41 in the bank.
There was a loss of $390.65 this month, but a profit of $794.31 for the year. We currently have 157 members.
Discussion regarding recruiting more new members.

Missing Realtor Business Listing Update:

The Dunnigan Realtors ad was not in the last newsletter. It will go in the next newsletter and will be in for a total of 4 issues.

Jannelle raised the question as to whether the HPNA wants to make budgeting plans. There was discussion about presenting an annual report at the December meeting

As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:03PM.
