Harvest Hollywood Park

By Christina Maradik-Symkowick
Have an over abundant citrus tree with excess ending up on your lawn, then the yard waste bin? Or unable to harvest your citrus tree? Or excited to help your Hollywood Park neighbor harvest a fruit tree? Lets make an effort not to let all that wonderful citrus go to waste this winter! Mark your calendar to come out and join your neighbors in our annual Hollywood Park neighborhood harvest, and to welcome the Land Park Community Association into the fold. We will meet at Centennial United Methodist Church in the morning for coffee and some nourishing treats and fan out through the neighborhood to harvest citrus trees. Afterward, we will return to the church to enjoy a hearty vegetarian lunch and share stories. We’ll set our fruit out for the taking by anyone who will use it and donate the rest to local food banks.
Harvest Hollywood Park, a neighborhood affiliate of Harvest Sacramento, a project of Soil Born Farms, is focused on redistributing the bounty of the neighborhood to those neighbors that will use it and donating the rest to those without enough food in our greater Sacramento community. If you would like to join one of Harvest Sacramento’s larger city-wide picks, please visit soilborn.org and click the volunteer button for more information.
